Hone Your Digital Strategy to Make Your Website More Engaging

You’ve successfully promoted your website and you’re experiencing heavy web traffic – now what? Once you’ve got the visitors, you need to implement a digital strategy that includes optimizing your pages to improve your site’s performance. Lesya Liu, contributor for Entrepreneur.com, offers a few tips on how to engage and convert your web audience.

  1. Page Speed | How fast your website loads is one of the most important elements of all. Google uses it as a factor in its search results, so slower sites won’t rank as high. In addition, visitors will bounce if your site takes too long to load. Even if you’re not too tech-savvy, you can still make some performance improvements. A good rule of thumb is to make sure your site doesn’t have more than what it needs. For example, if you have an image displaying at 300×300 pixels, make sure the file you upload is that exact size. If you upload a huge, high-res image, it takes longer for browsers to downsize it. You can also browse through your dashboard and delete any unused plugins you have installed.
  2. Keep it Simple | A simple website with little clutter makes for a more pleasurable browsing experience. Think about it from a customer perspective and try to picture a path for them to follow. Start with the landing page, what they’ll see first, and where they can go from there.
  3. Tell Your Brand Story | Your whole website should be a cohesive message about your company. Let visitors know what your values are. Be unique and consistent to avoid brand confusion and make your company really stand out.
  4. Clearly State Your Offer | From the moment a user lands on your site, they need to be able to understand exactly what you are offering and how it will benefit them. Once you’ve captured their attention, you can go into further detail about your company.
